Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Paul,

The reported error message is indicating that the system has detected a failure of its rate gyro. Unfortunately, replacement parts are no longer available for the S1G autopilots. However, unplugging the rate gryo's plug from the S1G's circuit board will then permit the S1G to function as it's non-gryo assisted sister product, the S1.

The software within the S1 was exclusively designed to be performed by Raymrine's Product Repair Center and servicing dealers, but would not be applicable to the problem reported.
