RE: [CA11] Is it possible to interface NMEA and Seatalk between C80 and C120W
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Andy,

Q1. I was wondering if I can interface through NMEA and SeaTalk the C80 Classic and the C120W.
A1. Yes. However, these produces will be unable to share cartography, radar, fishfinder, Sirius Satellite Weather/Radio, and AIS resources. Waypoint and route data will also not be synchronized between these products, requiring that such data be transferred via a CF memory card or by commanding transfer of such data via a 4800 BAUD NMEA 0183 interface between the MFDs.

Q2. I also have a Standard Horizon GX2200 AIS receiver that will not interface with the C80 at the helm (I have tried all options - NMEA connection at 38400 Baud without success), and would like the AIS signal at least on the Nav station C120W.
A2. Should the NMEA 0183 communications interface of the GX2200 VHF radio / AIS receiver and that of the C120W be operational, these products be correctly interfaced to one another, and the MFD be properly configured to support 38400 BAUD communication via the NMEA 0183 port of the MFD, then this should indeed be possible, as it should have been with an operational, properly interfaced, and properly configured C80 MFD which has been updated with v5.16 C-Series Classic MFD software.

- connect the MFD's NMEA 0183 OUT1+ (yellow) lead to the NMEA 0183 IN+ (blue) lead of the GX2200
- connect the MFD's NMEA 0183 OUT1- (brown) lead to the NMEA 0183 IN- (green) lead of the GX2200
- connect the MFD's NMEA 0183 IN+ (white) lead to the NMEA 0183 OUT+ (gray) lead of the GX2200
- connect the MFD's NMEA 0183 IN- (green) lead to the NMEA 0183 OUT- (brown) lead of the GX2200
- Configure the GX2200's NMEA DATA IN/OUT setting to 38400 BPS.
- Configure the MFD's NMEA 0183 Port 1 Setting to AIS 38400.
- To view AIS objects within the MFD's Chart application, configure the AIS objects layer to ON, and verify that the MFD is receiving a GPS position FIX via the MFD's GPS Status dialog.
