Q1. can I use this and pipe the info into the backbone of the seatalkng, or do I need the newer version of the NMEA 2000.
A1. It is indeed possible to do as you have suggested. As the Evolution autopilots do not support NMEA 0183 communications, a NMEA 0183 to NMEA 2000 data bridging device supporting 4800 BAUD NMEA 0183 communications (ex. Actisense NGW-1-ISO-STNG, etc.) would need be be added to the system's backbone. The NMEA 0183 output of the GPS would then be paralleled to the NMEA 0183 input leads of the NMEA 0183 data bridging device.
