On which device should Data Sources be configured?
On which device should Data Sources be configured?
Within systems featuring an i70/i70S Multifunction Instrument Display (MFID) or p70/p70S/p70R/p70RS Autopilot Control Head (interfaced to as a spur to a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone), it is considered to be a best installation practice that Data Source selection be configured by one of these devices rather than via a Multifunction Display (MFD). In systems lacking a an i70/i70S Multifunction Instrument Display (MFID) or p70/p70S/p70R/p70RS Autopilot Control Head, the Data Sources feature may be configured on the MFD. This best practice is recommended because the above listed MFIDs and autopilot control heads complete startup initialization more quickly than MFDs, permitting associated data be available to the operator and other system components as soon as is permissible. This best practice also supports degraded / reduced system operation, where for example, the SeaTalk bus alone is powered. RAYFAQ# |
