RE: [CA11] Replacing an E80 Classic with an Axiom 9
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Barry,
Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. As you have suggested and as is indicated within the referenced FAQ, the SR6 would need to be replaced with a SR200 to utilize SiriusXM Satellite Wx features within the Axiom MFD. Before removing the E-Series Classic MFD from the system, it is recommended that it be used to update the software within the ST70 and SPX autopilot components ... Axiom MFDs cannot update the software within these products. The AIS650, ST70 products, and SPX autopilot components should each be interfaced as a spur to a powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone. The backbone will need to include a SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter. The Raystar 125 GPS sensor will be interfaced to the SeaTalk (yellow) socket of the SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter. The backbone will need to include a spur socket to permit the Axiom MFD's NMEA 2000 port to be interfaced to the spur socket. Any one of the following means may be used to adapt the MFD's NMEA 2000 port to be mated to a spur socket within a backbone which has been constructed from SeaTalkng networking components: - A06045 / 15.7in (0.4m) SeaTalkng Spur to DeviceNet (F) - A06075 / 39.4in (1.0m) SeaTalkng Spur to DeviceNet (F) - A06082 DeviceNet (F) to SeaTalkng (M) Adapter and an appropriate length of SeaTalkng Spur Cable As indicated within the referenced FAQ, the Ray218 may be interfaced to the backbone via an Actisense NGW-1-ISO-STNG NMEA 0183 to NMEA 2000 data bridge. LifeTag is not supported for use with Axiom MFDs. |
