RE: [CA11] Axiom Pro and Standard horizon VHF 1600
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum lwilson:
To interface these products to one another: - connect the MFD's NMEA 0183 OUT1+ (yellow) lead to the NMEA 0183 IN+ (blue) lead of the GX1600 - connect the MFD's NMEA 0183 OUT1- (brown) lead to the NMEA 0183 IN- (green) lead of the GX1600 - connect the MFD's NMEA 0183 IN1+ (white) lead to the NMEA 0183 OUT+ (gray) lead of the GX1600 - connect the MFD's NMEA 0183 IN1- (green) lead to the NMEA 0183 OUT- (brown) lead of the GX1600 Doing so will not only permit the VHF radio to receive GPS data, but also for the MFD to receive DSC position reports from the VHF radio. Q1.I believe I should be able to use the NMEA 0183 of the Axiom and RS422 connetion for this to work as the radio requires a 4800 baud rate which I believe the Axiom pro unit is or can be adjusted to. A1. See the note above. Please note that the default setting of the Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFD's NMEA 0183 ports is 4800 BAUD. The setting is configured via the command sequence HOME->SETTINGS->NETWORK->NMEA SET-UP->NMEA PORT 1 Q2.I am not sure about the version of NMEA 0183 that the Axiom Pro is using as the VHF radio can read NMEA 0183 version 2.0 or higher. A2. These products are indeed compatible. Q3. Can the Axiom Pro be using both the NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 at the same time? A3. Yes. |
