Adding spur sockets or extending a SeaTalkng backbone
Adding spur sockets or extending a SeaTalkng backbone
There are a number of ways to add spur sockets or to extend a powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng backbone. Should the backbone feature T-Pieces, then the easiest means of adding spur sockets to the backbone would be to replace one or more of the backbone's T-Piece(s) with an A06064 SeaTalkng 5-Way Connector. Another means of adding spur sockets or to extend the backbone would be to disconnect the blue SeaTalkng Termination Plug from one of the backbone's T-Pieces, 5-Way Connectors, iTC-5, or SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter. The SeaTalkng Termination Plug would then be inserted into one of the blue backbone sockets of a SeaTalkng T-Piece or 5-Way Connector to be added to the backbone. After doing so, the additional SeaTalkng T-Piece or 5-Way Connector joined to the SeaTalkng T-Piece or 5-Way Connector from which the SeaTalkng Termination Plug had been removed via an appropriate length of SeaTalkng Backbone Cable. The SeaTalkng Termination Plug which had been removed may then be inserted into the remaining socket of the SeaTalkng T-Piece or 5-Way Connector which has been added to the backbone. Please note that it is considered to be a best practice to power the SeaTalkng backbone from a dedicated power circuit. Accordingly, should the SeaTalkng backbone be powered from an Evolution ACU or SPX autopilot course computer, then it would be recommended that the SeaTalkng power switch of the ACU or SPX autopilot course computer instead be switched off and that the SeaTalkng backbone then be powered via a SeaTalkng Power Cable which has been interfaced to a spur socket located at the approximate midpoint of the backbone's LEN load.
