RE: Product Selection
notned,

Q2. List of the features/capabilities seeking to add: GPS/Plotter, Radar, Auto-pilot, Depth sounder, VHF
A2. Noted. With regard to depth sounding, are you seeking to simply view a numerical value for depth and/or to view a bottom plot (as would be supported by a product having fishfinding feratures)? Will the loud hailing capability be required?
Q2a. We are seeking a bottom plot with hailing capability
A2a. With respect to the VHF radio with hailing capabilities, it is recommended, the Ray260 and a Ray260 RayMic (for the second station) would be recommended for those seeking a VHF radio having a modular design (has fewer visible components) with a second station capability. If seeking a more traditional VHF radio with hailing and second station capabilities, then a Ray70 and a RayMic (for the second station) would be recommended.

Comments noted regarding bottom plotting.

Q5. any physical constraints: Would rather not have to drill through hull, no other constraints
A5. This vessel appears to have two steering stations. Will a display be installed at each station? Of 7", 9", 12", and 16" screen sizes, what size screens would you be seeking for each location. Will more than one display be installed at either steering station?
Q5a. We were hoping to have a display in both locations, probably a small one on the fly deck and a 9" or 12" on the main deck, if we have the capability to use Bluetooth and an IPad or something similar to be protable on the Fly Deck then we might consider that route.
A5a. It generally would not be recommended that a mobile device be used in applications where the mobile device will be exposed to bright sunshine (prevents the image from being viewed) or weather. If seeking the latest generation of MFDs, then it would be recommended that an Axion 9 DV MFD or Axiom 12 DV MFD be considered for the lower station and that an Axiom 7 (no internal fishfinder circuity ... will share fishfinder features from a networked Axiom DV MFD. A CPT-120 (Bronze) thru-hull - DownVision Transducer would be interfaced to the Axiom DV MFD to support the system's fishfinding capabilities. Axiom MFD feature touch screen - only controls. Should you desire that the MFDs feature buttons as well as touch screen controls, then then it would be recommended that an eS98 or eS128 MFD be considered for the lower station and that an eS75 MFD be considered for the upper station.

Should you not want to install a thru-hull fishfinder transducer and the hull construction and thickness be within the parameters previously stated, then the aforementioned CP370 with M260 in-hull transducer may alternatively be interfaced to either of the MFD options listed above.

On a vessel of this size, it would be recommended that a Raystar 150 GPS Sensor be installed onboard to provide GPS data to the system. A RD424HD Radome or 4KW HD Open Array would be recommended to support the system's radar features.

Q6. type of steering: Hydraulic semi displacement.
A5. When specifying an autopilot for a vessel with hydraulic steering, information concerning the cubic capacity of the vessel's steering ram(s); and if more than one ram is installed, specification of whether the rams have been installed in series or parallel will in turn determine the autopilot components to be installed. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject.
Q5a. We will have to wait to determine this, we do not know these answers.
A5a. Noted.
