Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Denman180,

The hsb/hsb2/SL Pathfinder Series Displays were designed to support 4800 BAUD NMEA 0183 v2.1 and higher versions. No settings need or may be set within the hsb/hsb2/SL Pathfinder Series Display to create support for such communications. I would recommend that you verify that your third party GPS/chartplotter has been configured to transmit 4800 BAUD NMEA 0183 v2.1 (v2.0 if v2.1 is not listed). If so, and the problem persist, then it would be recommended that your third party GPS/chartplotter's NMEA 0183 communications port be tested. For products having NMEA 0183 diagnostic features, this may commonly be accomplished by interfacing the products NMEA 0183 output leads to the product's NMEA 0183 input leads and then inspecting the product's NMEA 0183 receive buffer to verify that the product is receiving NMEA 0183 communications via its NMEA 0183 communications port. If so, then the NMEA 0183 communications path should be traced from the third party product to the NMEA 0183 input leads of the hsb/hsb2/SL Pathfinder Series Display.
