RE: [CA11] L760 NMEA 0183 GPS Upgrade
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Bill,'

When using new GPS sensor with the system, care must be taken to first disconnect any other GPS sensor from the system. The Power/NMEA 0183 Input Cable of hsb/hsb2/SL Pathfinder Series Chartplotter, Fishfinder, and Radar Displays features four leads to support interfacing the display to up to two 4800 BAUD NMEA 0183 talkers supporting NMEA 0183 v2.1 communications. This cable features a white label on the end opposite its plug which identifies the NMEA 0183 port (IN1 or IN2) and signal / reference lead color. Either NMEA 0183 input port lead pair may be used for interfacing a GPS sensor meeting the above listed requirements to the display. If using the display's NMEA 0183 IN1 port, then the NMEA 0183 IN1+ lead of the Power/NMEA 0183 Input Cable will be interfaced to the GPS sensor's NMEA 0183 OUT+ lead. Additionally, the display's NMEA 0183 IN1 port, then the NMEA 0183 IN1- lead of the Power/NMEA 0183 Input Cable will be interfaced to the GPS sensor's NMEA 0183 OUT- lead. Should the GPS sensor not feature a dedicated NMEA 0183 OUT- lead, then the NMEA 0183 IN1- lead of the Power/NMEA 0183 Input Cable will be interfaced to the GPS sensor's ground lead, which will in turn be interfaced to battery ground. The third party GPS sensor will need to be powered in the manner specified within the GPS sensor's installation instructions.
