Interfacing a STST6xxx/ST7xxx/ST8xxx Autopilot Control Head to a third party GPS / Chartplotter
The ST6xxx/ST7xxx/ST8xxx Autopilot Control Heads featured a 4800 BAUD NMEA 0183 v2.0 communications interface to support use with third party GPS / Chartplotting products. Should the third party GPS / Chartplotting product feature a NMEA 0183 communications interface supporting 4800 BAUD NMEA 0183 v2.0 or later communications, then it may be interfaced to the ST6xxx/ST7xxx/ST8xxx Autopilot Control Head's NMEA 0183 IN terminals as follows: - ST6xxx/ST7xxx/ST8xxx Autopilot Control Head NMEA 0183 IN+ to GPS / Chartplotting product NMEA 0183 OUT+ lead/terminal, and - ST6xxx/ST7xxx/ST8xxx Autopilot Control Head NMEA 0183 IN- to GPS / Chartplotting product NMEA 0183 OUT- lead/terminal Alternatively, should the marine electronics system feature a powered and properly terminated NMEA 2000 backbone, then an Actisense NGW-1-ISO NMEA 0183 to NMEA 2000 Data Bridge may be installed as a spur within this backbone. After doing so, the NMEA 0183 output leads of the Actisense NGW-1-ISO NMEA 0183 to NMEA 2000 Data Bridge may be interfaced to the ST6xxx/ST7xxx/ST8xxx Autopilot Control Head's NMEA 0183 IN terminals as follows: - ST6xxx/ST7xxx/ST8xxx Autopilot Control Head NMEA 0183 IN+ to Actisense NGW-1-ISO NMEA 0183 OUT+ (RED) lead, and - ST6xxx/ST7xxx/ST8xxx Autopilot Control Head NMEA 0183 IN- to Actisense NGW-1-ISO NMEA 0183 OUT- (BLACK) lead RAYFAQ# |
