[CA] [CA11] System diagram software

I am planning to upgrade a pretty full RM suite; twin e120ws, ais650, st6002/ s3g auto pilot, nmea2000 engine access, plus other stuff, etc. I have notice a number of folks have produced system diagrams showing connections. In a Fact moderator chuck has produced a diagram with RM system icons that closely resembles where we eventually hope to be. Is this the result of available software (nothing on iTunes/iPad App Store), like the Simrad designer? Can someone recommend a basic design program?

Visio, PowerPoint, Paint, Word, and other similar computer applications have been used for such purposes. That said, a hand rendered drawing is often quite sufficient.
