[CA11] Axiom product use questions
Here is what we are not getting: BTW, we have the Platinum Plus chip.
1. We don't know how to overlay the radar on top of the chart
2. We have the entire southern portion of Florida loaded yet cannot get "dock to dock" from Fort Myers, Florida to Key West municipal marina. Or other nearby marinas.
3. There is no 3D view. (Even at the West Marine store) there is no 3D view and your support seemed surprised. Yet it's on all the sales literature itself.
4. When we touch the "icon" such as a pink sailboat with a pink circle, if you are not SPOT ON, you have to try three or more time before it gives you the marina and the information. Is there a sensitivity adjustment that can be made?
5. Last, once you do get the icon to come up with the marina information it doesn't seem to have "pictures" of the marina. At one point, on one of the icons I was able to get a picture. I then went back to the same icon several times and still cannot pull up the picture I had before.

RE: [CA11] Axiom product use questions
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Trip,

Q1. We don't know how to overlay the radar on top of the chart
A1. In order to utilize the Radar overlay feature within the Chart application (MENU->SETTINGS->LAYERS->RADAR->ENABLE) the system must be interfaced to a compatible radar scanner and the system the system must acquire a GPS position FIX. Should a vessel be stationary, then overlaying the Chart application with radar will require that the system have acquired a GPS position FIX and be interfaced to a source of heading data (ex. Evolution autopilot, AR200 Augmented Reality Sensor, etc.). Should the system have acquired a GPS position FIX, the vessel be underway and making way (this action produces COG), then the Radar layer may also be enabled to support radar overlay. Additional information concerning radar features within the Chart application may be found within the Radar Settings section of Chapter 8.6 Target Tracking of the LightHouse 3.11 Advanced Operation Instructions.

Q2. We have the entire southern portion of Florida loaded yet cannot get "dock to dock" from Fort Myers, Florida to Key West municipal marina. Or other nearby marinas.
A2. Detailed information concerning the Navionics Dock to Dock Autorouting feature may be found within the Autorouting section of Chapter 7.2: Routes of the LightHouse 3.11 Advanced Operation Instructions. Autorouting failures typically result from one or more of the following:

- failure to have an active Navionics Freshest Data subscription. While Navionics chart cards include a free Freshest Data subscription for the first year of ownership, the operator must have an account the Navionics website and the chart card must be registered via the Navionics Chart Installer app. One may verify whether a chart card has an active Freshest Data subscription by examining the Navionics chart cards details within the Cartography tab of the Chart application's Settings dialog.

- the minimum safe depth, minimum safe height, and/or minimum safe width boat details (HOME->SETTINGS->BOAT DETAILS) have not been configured. For practical purposes, it is generally recommended that the minimum safe depth not be less than 6'.

- the depth recorded within the Navionics cartography at the location of the boat, first waypoint, or last waypoint is less minimum safe depth which has been configured with the Boat Details tab. When this condition occurs, the system will typically draw a straight line between the boat position or first waypoint and the location to which autorouting had been directed. It is generally recommended that autorouting start and end within deep water such as a channel rather than dockside.

- the autorouting algorithm was unable to generate a route which satisfied the minimum safe depth, minimum safe height, and/or minimum safe width boat details (see my recommendation above concerning the minimum safe depth not be less than 6'. When this condition occurs, the system will typically draw a straight line between the boat position or first waypoint and the location to which autorouting had been directed.

- the distance of the automatically generated section of the route between two points chosen exceeds 100nm. When this condition occurs, the system will typically draw a straight line between the boat position or first waypoint and the location to which autorouting had been directed. To automatically generated a route whose departure point will be located more than 100nm away from the destination, a location less than 100nm must be selected as the first point to be autorouted to. After that automatically routed section has been completed, the cursor may be move towards the destination, but not more than 100nm from the last point autorouted. This process may continue in approximately 100nm route chunks until the automatically generated route includes the destination.

- the automatically generated route exceeds the maximum number of waypoints permissible within a route (500 wpts/route).

Q3. There is no 3D view. (Even at the West Marine store) there is no 3D view and your support seemed surprised. Yet it's on all the sales literature itself.
A3. Per the Feature Differences section of Appendix E: LightHouse 3 on eS and gS-Series of the LightHouse 3.11 Advanced Operation Instructions, LightHouse II R19 (ran on a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs) software supported 3D Chart Mod ... however, LightHouse 3 software (runs on eS/gS-Series MFDs (through v3.11) and Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs) does not support support 3D Chart mode. While I am aware of promotional videos showing MFDs running LightHouse II software which demonstrate 3D Chart mode, I am aware of no such promotional video or materials showing MFDs running LightHouse 3 software which demonstrate 3D Chart mode. Please be aware that LightHouse 3 software does support RealVision 3D sonar imaging (a fishfinder feature) when the system has been properly interfaced to a RealVision 3D sonar transducer(s). A feature request has been logged to consider 3D Chart mode within a future LightHouse 3 software update for Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs.

Q4. When we touch the "icon" such as a pink sailboat with a pink circle, if you are not SPOT ON, you have to try three or more time before it gives you the marina and the information. Is there a sensitivity adjustment that can be made?
A4. Unfortunately, icons can sometimes be a bit challenging to hot spot due to the size of the icons. However, when an object is hot spotted, other nearby objects should appear within the list generated via the MORE OPTIONS->CHART INFO->MARINAS & MOORINGS command sequence.

Q5. Last, once you do get the icon to come up with the marina information it doesn't seem to have "pictures" of the marina. At one point, on one of the icons I was able to get a picture. I then went back to the same icon several times and still cannot pull up the picture I had before.
A5. Not all marinas have photos. For those which a photo is available, a camera icon should be displayed. Should the camera object be closely located to other chart objects, it may be helpful to range well in to put greater separation between between the objects and thereby permit the desired object to be more easily hot spotted.

Regarding contacting Raymarine's Product Support Team by phone, please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. While it may have been a bit challenging to get through during the holiday period, phone contact with Raymarine's Product Support Team should be quite easy for the next couple of months, as this is a slower period for our support teams. For some items, it may be best to call from the boat to permit the team to walk you through use of the feature.
