[CA11] V850 Transducer to Axiom
HI,

My boat came with a mix of Axiom and old Raytheon electronics, I'm in the process of removing the old equipment. My main question is it possible to adapt the existing transducer from the V850 to the Axiom?

I believe it is a airmar 755 50/200, I actually have 2 airmar transducers installed, one has bare ends and the other had a 7 pin plug, I had purchased the 7pin to 25pin but it does not line up. Is it possible to cut & solder these two together?

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Reelfast19,

Unfortunately, fishfinder transducers which had been designed for use with the V850 cannot be used with Axiom/Axiom XL/Axiom Pro MFDs.

Thanks, I thought that may be the case.

Would the M78717 be compatible? It looks like I can replace just the transducer element into my existing bronze housing

Reelfast19,

Q. Would the M78717 be compatible?
A. Negative. The M78717 is an instrument transducer. As indicated within the FAQ found here, instrument transducers cannot be adapted / modified / used to support a MFD's fishfinder features. Axiom RV MFDs may be interfaced to a RealVision transducer and/or adapted to be interfaced to one of the 50kHz/200 kHz fishfinder transducers found here, all of which will require that the currently installed transducer housing be replaced.

Is it possible to adapt either of the existing analog transducers to seatalk/nmea by use of the itc-5?

I don’t have a need for fishfinder capability just depth on my network

RE: [CA11] V850 Transducer to Axiom
Reelfast19,

Please note that transducer's which had been designed for use with the long retired Raytheon V850 supported 200kHz frequency, as do the iTC-5 and i50/i40 Depth instrument products. Unfortunately, we no longer have information on the transducers which the V850 had been used with. However, it is quite possible that it's wiring is consistent with the FAQ found here. As the transducer was produced by Airmar, Inc., it would be recommended that a photograph of the transducer's identification tag be taken and that Gemeco, Inc. (Airmar’s US distributor (803 693 0777)) be contacted for information concerning its wiring diagram to confirm that the transducer's blue and black leads would be used when instead connecting it to a 200kHz depth instrument.

RE: [CA11] V850 Transducer to Axiom
I just wanted to follow up, I was able to successfully adapt the existing transducer via the itc5 and now have depth, speed and and temp on my network.

Thank you!
