[CA11] Axiom transducer question
Last summer we purchased the Axiom 9RV without transducer.
The boat is a ‘93 Bayliner 3288 with a dead rise of 6-12 degrees.
It is being hauled out this spring for cleaning and bottom painting and would like a thru-hull transducer installed at that time.
My question is which transducer to install.
The dealer said RV-200. I mentioned the dead rise, so then he said RV-212.
Will the RV-212P do the job?

RE: [CA11] Axiom transducer question
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Hocuspocus,

The answer to your question is dependent upon the type of fishfinder sonar imaging which you are seeking to utilize. Depending upon the type of transducer(s) which has been interfaced to the MFD, Axiom RV MFDs are capable of supporting RealVision, SideVision, or DownVision fishfinder sonar imaging (upper right and lower panes of the top screen shot below), low power / high frequency conical CHIRP sonar imaging (upper left pane of the top screen shot below), and/or 50kHz/200kHz ClearPulse (traditional) sonar imaging (bottom screen shots). Which (type(s) of fishfinder sonar imaging are you seeking to achieve with our system?

RE: [CA11] Axiom transducer question
We are looking for the most that the Axiom MFD will do with a single thru
hull transducer. We don’t use it as a fish finder. It’s used more for cruising and anchoring.

RE: [CA11] Axiom transducer question
Hocuspocus,

As the hull has too much deadrise for an 0 degree transducer, a pair of 12 degree tilted element RealVision bronze or plastic transducers would need to be installed. Please additionally note that tilted element RealVision transducers can only be installed in pairs. Should only one tilted element RealVision transducer be interfaced to the MFD, then the MFD will not support fishfinding features in conjunction with the single tilted element RealVision transducer.

If seeking to install a single thru-hull transducer for this cruising application, then it would be recommended that a CPT-S transducer be install to support low power / high frequency conical CHIRP sonar imaging (upper left pane of the top screen shot within my previous response).
