Unable to update ST70 software
A recently upgraded system has two eS series MFD's, an RS130, ST1 to STNG converter, ST70, SPX 30 course computer, ST60 and Smart Pilot RF remote. eS series units are at v17.45, ST1 to STNG converter is at 2.01 and the SPX 30 was successfully updated from v1.18 to 3.05. However, when the software update is executed for the ST70, it does not update even though the the update indicates a v3.04 update and the ST70 is at version 1.06. See attached pictures. I have noticed that the product ID for the update is P625 while the product ID for the ST70 is D625. I'm not sure if this matters or not.

Any suggestions on how to get the ST70 updated? Could this be a bootloader issue? I see that in the version 2.05 and 3.03 the bootloader was updated from the current ST70 bootloader which is v.19.

baja [censored],

Given the steps taken and failures reported, it is recommended that the ST70 be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / updated.

RE: Unable to update ST70 software
I recently acquired an old ST70 pilot control head and had the same issue. The ST70 has software version 1.06 and it would not take a software upgrade from an a67. The product code was D625.

I downloaded the firmware update for ST70 instrument display (not pilot head). It contains two pieces of firmware, one is the bootloader, the other one is the instrument firmware. I upgraded the bootloader first and the product code changed to P625. I then installed the latest pilot control head application software for ST70P and it worked fine. No more resets, no more forgotten settings, works great.
