[TG11] E 120 interface with Robertson autopilot
I have an e120 classic mfd and a Robertson ap300x autopilot with a j300x junction box and a fluxgate "Rate" compass. My question is can the compass data be used for heading info on the E120 for marpa? Do I use the NMEA 0183 port for this? I just installed an Axiom 7 rd also. Can the Axiom interface with the E120 use its gps data?
Thanks

Hello Thefin25,

The AP300x is a pretty old pilot, correct? 1990's vintage? If so then yes, NMEA0183 would be your only option. White and green are the E120's NMEA0183 input +ve and -ve respectively. That ought to allow MARPA, though NMEA0183 isn't always straightforward. I would advise against connecting 0183 in both directions as this is prone to data loops.

You can connect an E120 and an Axiom via a Seatalk1 to SeatalkNG convertor. This will share GPS and other basic navigation data such as active waypoints and routes. You cannot network the E120 and Axiom via the SeatalkHS / Raynet network because the E120's software is too old to support this.
