[TG11] Silencing AIS
We have fitted an es75 MFD with an my backbone and a Digital yacht AIT 1500
transponder. The only part that does not work correctly is the silence mode. When we turn on silent mode, it lasts for a few minutes, then the AIS transmits again and the silence bar in the settings menu goes to off again.
Is there some way to make sure the AIS goes off and stays off?
Allan

RE: [TG11] Silencing AIS
Hello Allan,

The Silent Mode feature is only designed to work with Raymarine AIS transceivers. It's not a standard NMEA2000 message (this is the sort of thing for which there is no standard NMEA2000 message), it's a proprietary one which your AIS doesn't know how to react to. Raymarine AIS transceivers also have an external physical override (Silent Mode switch wires on the power cable), perhaps your AIS has something similar. Other than that, you'd need to contact your AIS's manufacturer. If all else failed you could disconnect its GPS antenna: it won't be able to transmit without its own GPS.

Regards,
Tom
