Product buttons don't appear to be illuminated

All Raymarine instrument displays, autopilot control heads, MFDs, chartplotters, and fishfinders produced since 2000 have featured illuminated buttons. The backlight level for the buttons is designed to increase in luminescence as the display's backlight level is dimmed. When testing the functionality of button backlighting, it is recommended that such testing be conducted in darkness, as it can be difficult to detect/assess button backlighting in daylight. The product's backlighting paradigm is such that when operating during periods of daylight, the product's screen will need be brightly illuminated, its buttons will be visible without additional illumination, and such the button backlight level will be low. As night approaches, the product's screen brightness will increasingly need to be reduced to preserve night vision. During this period, the illumination of the product's buttons will need to be increasingly illuminated as it becomes darker.

Correspondingly, what one should find is that the illumination of the product's keys increases as the product's screen backlight level is reduced, achieving brightest button illumination when the product's screen backlight level is configured to its dimmest setting. Similarly, you should find that the illumination of the product's buttons deceases as the product's screen backlight level is increased, achieving lowest key illumination when the product's screen backlight level is configured to its brightest setting.

Should the product's button backlighting not perform as has been specified within this FAQ, then it would be recommended that the product be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced.
