eS127 video in, composite, vga
We would like to use the video in feature of the es127 mfd. According to thr specs the is a powee/nmea/video cable. The wiring diagrams do not show which wires are to be used to provide video input to the mfd. We were planning on using composite video from a VGA to composite video cable. We can use other types with our goal of getting from VGA to the video input on the MFD.

How does this get wired so we can input composite video or some othet VGA to video input on the MFD?

RE: eS127 video in, composite, vga
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Lazybones,

The MFD's Power/NMEA 0183/Video input cable features a cable which has been terminated with a female BNC plug. It is this female BNC plug which analog NTSC/PAL video source (ex. thermal camera, docking/deck camera, etc.). While Raymarine e-Series and eS-Series MFD's support transmitting the MFD's screen image via a VGA signal to a marine monitor or TV supporting 720P, the MFD is itself not designed to function as a monitor. While it is technically possible to use a video scan converter to convert a VGA signal input to a NTSC/PAL composite video signal which may be displayed on a Raymarine MFD, the quality of the resulting image would typically be deemed to not be acceptable by most users. The prices of video scan converters also varies widely in the third party product marketplace and the rule of "you get what you pay for" with respect to features and the quality of the video image produced is quite applicable. It is strongly recommended that the retailer of any such scan converter being considered, confirm that the product may be returned if found to not produce a satisfactory image.
