Upgrade Ray70 to AIS Transceiver
Can the Ray70 VHF, which is AIS receive only, be upgraded to a transceiver by adding the AIS transceiver, or will this create problems? Can the same antenna be used and will the devices talk or conflict with one another? Will I need a new AIS ship registration or can I use the same with both since they are on the same vessel (in other words, will the Ray70 AIS be turned off)?

RE: Upgrade Ray70 to AIS Transceiver
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum mitchhughes,

Should an AIS transceiver be interfaced to the system, then it would be recommended that the Ray70's AIS receiver be configured OFF. AIS transceivers should be programmed with the same MMSI as would be assigned to the station's VHF radio. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing your VHF antenna question.
