RD242D
Can anyone suggest how to interface a Raymarine RD242D digital radome to a brand new es78 display system? I have the RD242D and was given the es78 as the person gifting it said it works with Raymarine digital radar units.

I have searched for RD242D specifics on the forum, but found nothing with that kind of specific information. Surely this configuration should not be that unusual?

Thanks for any and all help.
Doug

RE: RD242D
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Doug,

Digital Radomes (i.e. RD418D and RD424D) are indeed compatible with the a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs). Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. Should the package of your RD424D radome include a Digital Radar Cable and should this cable terminate in a RJ45 (M) plug, then the Digital Radar Cable would be connected to power and to an assembly constructed from an E55060 Crossover Coupler or R32142 RJ45 to RJ45 Waterproof Coupler and an appropriate length of RayNet (F) to RJ45 (M) Cable.

RE: RD242D
Thank you for the answer Chuck.

From what you have said, I purchased a 10m radar extender, to go from the RD242 down the mast, then attach it to the radar cable that came with the RD242, at the base of the mast The end of that cable will go into a HS5 Seatalk network switch. From the switch I will run connections to an es78 and an es98. That should take care of the radar, I think....

Thanks for the information!
