A78 Ping enable issue
Hello again, a problem has developed with my older A78 in sonar mode. I get readings that appear correct in the dual sonar application but keep in mind I am out of the water. At least there is scrolling on the screen. The ping is enabled and the rate is 80.
When I switch icons to chart + sonar, it tells me there is no sonar and pings are off. A search for the transducer results in a blank screen. In the menu the ping is set to off and I cannot get it to switch on. I tried in other combination applications and got the same result.
I removed the transducer plug and all pins look good and reattached the plug.
Suggestions?

RE: A78 Ping enable issue
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Sallysea,

The Transducers Set-up feature (HOME->SET-UP->SYSTEM SETTINGS->EXTERNAL DEVICES->TRANSDUCERS SET-UP) is not used in conjunction with CHIRP/DownVision transducers and other fishfinder transducerS. While the Transducer Set-up option within a Fishfinder application page/pane (MENU->SET-UP->TRANSDUCER SET-UP) supports fishfinder depth and fishfinder speed/temp transducers, the system auto-senses CHIRP/DownVision transducers and CPT-S transducers. Accordingly, no transducer selection option is provided for a CHIRP/DownVision transducer or CPT-S transducer which has been interfaced to an ax8 MFD, eSx8 MFD, or CP100. It should only be necessary to select between Sonar (CHIRP conical) and DownVision sonar sources (MENU->CHANNEL).

It is recommended that you verify that your MFD has been updated with the latest available Raymarine product software update. If not the MFD's software should be updated an then tested again. Should the problem persist when operating with the latest a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD software update, then it would be recommended that a System Settings Reset (HOME->SET-UP->MAINTENANCE->SYSTEM SETTINGS RESET) be performed, that your MFD's settings then be manually reconfigured, and that the system be tested again. Should the problem persist thereafter, then it would be recommended that the MFD be tested with another compatible transducer or sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced.

Note: the vessel need not be located in the water to create a fishfinder plot.
