Control head compatibility

Control head compatibility
I currently have an Autohelm Type 100 autopilot controlled by a ST6000+ control head. Works great. I would like to upgrade the control head to a Raymarine p70R if the system/unit is compatible. Q1: Is it compatible? Q2: if it's compatible, can it interface with my Garmin 1242 xsv plotter over the Garmin NMEA 2000 network? Need any adapters?

Thanks for your help.

RE: Control head compatibility
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum winktwo2,

Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. The Type 100 Autopilot Course Computer is of a design which predated the autopilot course computers listed within the previously referenced FAQ. Accordingly, the p70/p70R/p70S/p70RS Autopilot Control Heads would neither be considered supported nor compatible for use with the Type 100 Autopilot Course Computers.

RE: Control head compatibility
Thank you. What is the newest Raymarine model, even though old and not supported, that would still work with my Autohelm 100? ST6002? ST7001? ST8002?

RE: Control head compatibility
winktwo2,

The most recently manufactured models of Raymarine autopilot control heads which would have been compatible with the Type 100 Autopilot Course Computer would have been the ST6002+ and ST7002+. The ST8xxx Autopilot Control Heads are not compatible with the Type 100 Autopilot Course Computer.
