[CA] ST to STNG Converter Ports
I have a Seatalk instrument connected through an ST to STNG converter that will be replaced with a SeatalkNG instrument as part of a system upgrade. Can I connect the STNG instrument using a normal spur cable via the (now unneeded) yellow port on the converter, or only through a white port?

RE: [CA] ST to STNG Converter Ports
Welcome back to the Raymarine Forum jwasko,

The SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter's SeaTalk port (yellow) cannot be used to interface a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 device as a spur to the backbone. Should the system's backbone not feature an unused spur socket (white), then an additional spur socket will need to be added to the backbone. As the SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter will no longer be needed for data bridging, it is recommended that you simply consider replacing it with an A06064 SeaTalkng 5-Way Connector.
