[CA11] Replacing Analog Xducer with Digital Output
This year I installed a new depth sensor (E26030-P17) and speed/temp sensor (E26031-ST800/P120) in the locations formerly occupied by that Datamarine sensors that were on the boat when I purchased it last year. As I had feared with the speed sensor, the location (port side of the hull, 6 or so feet back from the stem) resulted in different output for the same SOG on opposite tacks. I'm now considering installing the DST800 at the location the current depth sensor is located, right on the stem. My boat is an Alerion 26, without any location with minimal deadrise.

I want to order the correct transducer, but the info on the Raymarine web site seems to provide conflicting info. Is the correct part number for the DST800 I want A22111? I expect that this transducer output will go directly into the STNG network without the iTC-5.

Thanks

mprestero,

The part number which you have referenced is for the Smart DST800, which is designed to be interfaced as a spur to the system's powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone. The Smart DST800 is designed to be calibrated by an i70/i70S MFID. This Smart DST800 is not designed for use with analog instrument products (ex. i50 Tridata, iTC-5, etc.). The analog version DST800 (part number A22154) is designed for use with analog instrument products.

Chuck,

Is there any advantage to me using the smart sensor over the analog version? I already have the iTC5 for the current sensors.

Thanks.

Mark
