[LW11] Axiom Humminbird connection
Hi

I have recently upgraded my navigation to Axiom but prior to this I had the transducer for my Humminbird Helix 5 chirp si fitted and was wondering if it was possible to connect the two to get depth and speed readings for navigation whilst using the hummingbird for sonar/fish finding.

Regards

RE: [LW11] Axiom Humminbird connection
Dear Alan,

Thank you for your query.

Have you already got a N2K backbone installation onboard? If this is the case, you can link the Axiom in on to the N2K backbone via devicenet connection and you should see the speed/ depth data if the data is present.

The Axiom will not see any fishfinder data or share cartography in anyway.

Many Thanks
Louise

RE: [LW11] Axiom Humminbird connection
Hi

I do not have a backbone at this time, my new system just consists of the basic Axiom 9 and a Ray 70 VHF connected by a seatalk ng conversion lead. I do have old transducer still fitted from an ST60 tri data could these be used by attaching an itc-5 and a 5 way backbone connection or would I also need to power the backbone, the Axiom and Ray 70 already have individual power connections.

Regards

Alan

RE: [LW11] Axiom Humminbird connection
Dear Alan,

Thank you for the reply.

You can use the iTC-5 with the older analogue transducers, you will need to install a small backbone. The STng backbone will need its own dedicated 12v power supply, please find the reference manual for the STng networking here.

Having just looked at the specs of the Hummingbird - NMEA2000 is not supported, you will not be able to integrate this.

Many Thanks
Louise

RE: [LW11] Axiom Humminbird connection
I have ordered the itc-5, just one last question with the backbone powered do I still need to power the Axiom and the RAY70 separately or do they get power from the backbone.

Alan

RE: [LW11] Axiom Humminbird connection
Dear Alan,

The Axiom and Ray70 will both need their own independent power supply.

Many Thanks
