[CA11] Airmar TM 260
Hi guys. Does anyone have any experience with the airmar TM-260 as a second transducer for the axiom ever 9? I have the RV-100 installed on my 20 seacraft with stepped hull. I’m not holding bottom over 7knts. I fish New England and it’s imperative to be able to hold and read bottom while on the move. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum ,

Stepped hulls can be a challenge for fishfinding and other sonar equipment. As indicated within the FAQ found here, a transom mounted transducer would not be recommended for stepped hulls. As shown within the photo within the referenced FAQ, an aerated flow of water will be generated aft of the step as the boat's speed increases. Many will elect to install a 50kHz/200kHz in-hull or thru-hull transducer slightly forward of the forward most step. However, if the boat's speed lifts the bow sufficiently high enough to cause the water beneath this additional transducer to be aerated, then it too will lose contact with the bottom.
