[CA11] how to Connect AIS 700 to C80 if NMEA 0183 already used on C80?
Hi,
I would like to connect an AIS 700 to a MCF C80, using the NMEA 0183 link. I noticed that the port NMEA 0183 on the C80 is already used to connect the Course Computer and Smart Heading Sensor (as suggested in the owner handbook of the Smart Heading system , page 31). Is there still a possibility of connecting the AIS 700 to the C80.
Thank you for your assistance,
Regards,
Marc

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Marc,

The AIS350, AIS650, and AIS700 each feature an internal 4800 BAUD to 3800 BAUD NMEA Multiplexer to address situations such as you have described. This would then permit the 38400 BAUD NMEA 0183 leads of the AIS350/650/700 Power/NMEA 0183 Cable to be interfaced to the MFD's NMEA 0183 cable and the 4800 BAUD NMEA 0183 leads of the AIS350/650/700 Power/NMEA 0183 Cable to be interfaced to a 4800 BAUD device(s) within the system. Hi Chuck,
Thank you for your response. It make sense.
I will check the cabling and pin allocation from the C80 to the Course Computer and compare it with the table provided in the other post.
Regards,
Marc
