[CA11] VHF 260 Handset radio
Operated normally for 4 years. Today, when handset plugged into helm station via round pin receptacle connector, only the backlighting was visible. There was no channel indication (16) and none of the buttons on the handset worked. There was a short connection (click) sound on the speaker when I plugged the handset into the receptacle.Did the handset or base station fail? The base station has a green power light illuminated.

RE: [CA11] VHF 260 Handset radio
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum sbarthold,

It is recommended that the Ray260's handset be unplugged from the bulkhead jack and that it be brought to the location of the Ray260, where it should be tested within each of the Ray260 base station's three handset sockets. Should it function when tested with each of Ray260 base station's three handset sockets, then it would appear that there is a fault within the cable assembly leading to the bulkhead jack, necessitating its replacement. Should it not function when connected to any one of the Ray260 base station's three handset sockets, then it would be recommended that both the base station and handset be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced. However, should the handset function only with one or two of the Ray260 base station's three handset sockets, then the Ray260 base station should be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced.
