[CA11] using AIS700 with E120 Classic
I have replaced my AIS 250 Receiver with an AIS 700 transceiver and connected to my "E120 Classic" it seems to function alright except it limits the targets shown to those within approx a one half mile range. When turned on it slowly populates the screen with targets as far away as 5 miles, but after 1.5 to 2 minutes the more distant targets start disappearing, furthest ones first, until I only have those targets within the range of one half mile. This is regardless of where I set the safety zone ring. I am in a crowded bay (San Diego) and so the AIS list is filled with 100 of the nearest targets (there are more than that on the screen). I have installed the latest E120 classic software (v5.69) and everything seems to work right except the range of targets showing on the screen. Could this be because of some capacity issue with the MFD? I have not yet tried moving out in the ocean to see if it displays more distant targets when there are fewer targets nearby.
Previously the AIS 250 displayed all targets including some many miles away.

RE: [CA11] using AIS700 with E120 Classic
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Mike,

Q. Could this be because of some capacity issue with the MFD?
A. Yes. The AIS transceiver will communicate all target data received to the MFD. However, the MFD's software is designed to limit it to tracking the 100 closest targets.
