e127 features? vs a 127
I am a bit confused. What are the major and minor differences between the a127 and e127? I believe they are both wifi enabled? I would like to think that I understand the following on the e127:
>NO module/sounder is needed for the fishfinder/sounder >The B744V Transducer I have installed can be used >The GPS antenna is built in? >I can use an external GPS antenna? >If the unit is built in I MUST use an external Raystar? Will a Raystar 125 (the one I am using with my classic C120) work? > An 18" RAYDOME will connect directly to this unit? MANY thanks for any input as I am ready to buy and retire my C120 Legacy system |

RE: e127 features? vs a 127
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Tony,
Q1. I am a bit confused. What are the major and minor differences between the a127 and e127? A1. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. Q2. I believe they are both wifi enabled? I would like to think that I understand the following on the e127: A2a >NO module/sounder is needed for the fishfinder/sounder ... correct A2b >The B744V Transducer I have installed can be used ... fishfinder transducers designed for use with the DSM300/DSM30/DSM250 may be adapted (w/E66066 Transducer Adapter) for use with an ax7/cx7/e7D/ex7/eSx7 MFD A2c >The GPS antenna is built in? ... yes A2d >I can use an external GPS antenna? ... yes. Both the e127 and a127 MFDs maybe interfaced to a Raystar 130 5Hz GPS Sensor. Alternatively, the a12x MFDs may be interfaced to a GA150 10Hz GPS Antenna. A2e >If the unit is built in I MUST use an external Raystar? ... Should the MFD not be installed in a location affording it an unobstructed view of the skies overhead, then it may be necessary to interface the MFD to a Raystar 130 or GA150. Will a Raystar 125 (the one I am using with my classic C120) work? ... Yes. A2 > An 18" RAYDOME will connect directly to this unit? ... Please click here to view a FAQ addressing how to add radar features to an a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD. Q3. MANY thanks for any input as I am ready to buy and retire my C120 Legacy system A3. RE: e127 features? vs a 127
ONE more question, I am buying the e127 at the annual DEFENDER Warehouse sale. I will be using the B744V thru hull transducer. If I buy a redundant e97 unit also, can I network these together to utilize the same transducer or will I need a separate transducer? If a separate transducer needed, what model do I need? I am NOT an avid fisherman, just a guy who cruises in his 39' Carver. Thanks again!

RE: e127 features? vs a 127
Tony,
The a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs are designed to be networked via Raymarine’s web site Ethernet networking to permit them to share all data and resources within the system except for NTSC/PAL video. As such, interfacing another a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD to the e127 MFD would indeed permit the e127 MFD to share fishfinder features with the other a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs. As an additional ax7/cx7/ex7/eSx7 MFD's internal ClearPulse sounder circuitry would be redundant and not used, you may want to consider installation of an ax5/cx5/ex5/eSx5 MFD to save a bit of cost. |
