When interfaced to a C-Series Classic MFD via a SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter, the local magnetic variation must be manually supplied to the Evolution autopilot via the autopilot's control head (MENU->SET-UP->USER PREFERENCES->VARIATION->VARIATION MODE->ON). Should this not occur, then the Evolution autopilot will respond with the symptom which you have indicated.
