Can two devices having SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 interfaces be interfaced by a single spur cable?

It is not possible to interface two devices having a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 communications interface to each other's SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 port via a single cable. Devices having SeaTalkng or NMEA 2000 communications interfaces are designed to communicate with one another via a powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng backbone. Each device having a SeaTalkng or NMEA 2000 communications interface should be individually interfaced to the spur socket within the backbone. When interfacing Raymarine MFDs to a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone, the Data Master MFD must be interfaced as a spur to the backbone. While it is permissible to interface non-Data Master MFDs to a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone, non-Data Master MFD(s) will not communicate with the SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone.
