The length of spur shouldn't cause the issue like this.

When you press MENU>SETUP>DIAGNOSTICS>ABOUT SYSTEM, are you seeing the EV-1 in the list? What software level is it at?

Yes, the LED is pointed toward the bow and is a steady green. Yes, EV-1 is in the list and is at software version 1.11.
