Spanning Tree (STP)
Do Raymarine MFD’s support spanning tree (STP)?

I have two MFDs which I’d like to connect to each other directly, but also both to the Ethernet switch (third-party with STP support) with their second Ethernet ports. This creates a redundant physical network, but if the MFDs don’t support STP it could create a loop. I am assuming each Ethernet port on the MFDs is a part of a virtual switch and not an interface (i.e. the MFD only has one IP address, not one for each Ethernet port).

Thanks!

RE: Spanning Tree (STP)
Hello swamplynx,

The MFDs do indeed each have a single IP. I don't know about STP support for sure, but very much doubt it - this isn't an intended/designed configuration or connection method, and we don't tend to make lives harder for ourselves by implementing features (and then having to test, support and then regression-test on each new software release) if we're not going to utilise the feature.

Sorry,
Tom
