[CA11] RD418HD questions
I have a new Axiom 12 MFD that I am just getting around to installing. I have the opportunity to grab an RD418HD Radome for $400. Is this directly compatible with the Axiom 12? If so, what cable will I need? Is a 4 or 5 meter cable available? I'd rather not have more wire rolled up under the helm than necessary.
Am I missing out on any particular features that might be important by buying this used radome? Will the Bird feature work? |

RE: [CA11] RD418HD questions
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Vettepro,
Q1. Is this (RD418HD) directly compatible with the Axiom 12? A1. Yes. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. Q2. If so, what cable will I need? A2. The radome will be interfaced to the MFD's Ethernet (RayNet) Network socket or HS5 RayNet Network Switch via an appropriate length of Digital Radar Cable having a RayNet (F) Plug on one end. Q3. Is a 4 or 5 meter cable available? A3. As indicated on the Radar Cable tab of Raymarine's Ethernet Networking web page, Digital Radar Cable terminated with a RayNet (F) plug is available in 5m, 10m, 15m, and 25m lengths (A80227, A80228, A80229, and A80230 respectively. Q4. Am I missing out on any particular features that might be important by buying this used radome? Will the Bird feature work? A4. HD radomes are indeed an excellent choice of radomes for fishing applications where cost or vessel size would prohibit installation of a Magnum Open Array Radar. HD radomes, when used in conjunction with MFDs running LH3 or LHII software will support Bird Mode. |
