Replacing an E-Series Classic MFD(s) with an Axiom Pro MFD(s)
Replacing an E-Series Classic MFD(s) with an Axiom Pro MFD(s)

Please note that the Axiom and Axiom Pro MFDs may not be installed within an Ethernet (SeaTalkhs/RayNet) network which additionally includes E-Series Classic MFDs. As such, should the current system presently feature more than one E-Series Classic MFD, then all of the E-Series Classic MFDs will need to be replaced with Axiom MFDs and/or Axiom Pro MFDs. Raymarine's Axiom MFDs and/or Axiom Pro MFD may be mixed or matched in any combination within an Ethernet network of Axiom MFDs and/or Axiom Pro MFDs. The Axiom MFDs and/or Axiom Pro MFD are designed to share all system data with one another via the Ethernet network to which they will be interfaced.

MOUNTING: Raymarine offers a limited set of adapter mounting plates which is expected to grow over time. To view the which Axiom Pro Adapter Plates are currently available, click here.

POWER: The currently installed power cable will need to be replaced with the cable supplied with the Axiom Pro MFD.

ETHERNET: Should the E-Series Classic MFD currently be interfaced to the system via a SeaTalkhs Cable, then the Axiom Pro MFDs and/or Axiom MFDs replacing the E-Series Classic MFD(s) may be adapted to use the currently installed SeaTalkhs Cable by using an A80160 SeaTalkhs (F) to RayNet (F) Adapter.

RADAR: Please click here to view a FAQ addressing how to add radar features to an Axiom / Axiom Pro MFD.

SEATALK: Please click here to view a FAQ addressing how to interface products having a SeaTalk interface to a SeaTalkng backbone, to which the Data Master Axiom MFD or Data Master Axiom Pro MFD will also be interfaced.

EXTERNAL ALARM: The A80614 SeaTalkNG Auxiliary Alarm Buzzer may be used to remotely sound alarms for Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs running the latest available Raymarine product software updates. A comprehensive list of alarms supported by the A80614 SeaTalkNG Auxiliary Alarm Buzzer may be found within Appendices A through R of the of the SeaTalkNG Auxiliary Alarm Buzzer Installation Instructions.

NMEA 0183: The NMEA 0183 leads of any NMEA 0183 devices which are presently interfaced to the E-Series Classic MFD's NMEA Cable will need to be disconnected from this cable and will instead be spliced to the corresponding leads of the Axiom Pro MFD's Power/NMEA 0183/Video Input Cable.

SEATALKNG/NMEA 2000: Should the Data Master E-Series Classic MFD be interfaced as a spur to SeaTalkng/NMEA 2000 backbone, the Data Master Axiom Pro MFD or Data Master Axiom MFD may be interfaced to a SeaTalkng/NMEA 2000 backbone constructed from SeaTalkng networking components via a SeaTalkng to DeviceNet Female adapter cable (A06045).

SATELLITE WEATHER / RADIO: Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs are not compatible with the SR50 Sirius Satellite Weather / Radio Receiver. Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs running the latest available Raymarine product software update which have been interfaced via Ethernet communications to a SR200 SiriusXM Satellite Weather/Radio Receiver or to a SR150 SiriusXM Satellite Weather/Radio Receiver which in turn the owner has purchase SiriusXM Marine Weather and/or SiriusXM Satellite Radio subscription will support the corresponding SiriusXM Satellite Weather and/or Satellite Radio features. Legacy Raymarine SiriusXM Satellite Weather/Radio Receivers (SR50, SR100, and SR6) are not be compatible Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs.

VIDEO INPUT: The E-Series Classic MFDs support video input from up to four analog NTSC/PAL video sources. Raymarine’s Axiom Pro MFDs support video input from one analog NTSC/PAL video source. Analog video input received via an Axiom Pro MFD may be be shared with other Axiom Pro MFDs and Axiom MFDs within an Ethernet Network. Should a compatible Raymarine or FLIR branded thermal camera need to be interfaced to the system, then it will need to be interfaced to the video input socket of a Axiom Pro MFD’s Power/NMEA 0183/Video Input Cable. Other analog NTSC/PAL video input devices may be either interfaced to the video input socket of an a Axiom Pro MFD’s Power/NMEA 0183/Video Input Cable or to a compatible video encoder which has in turn been interfaced to the system's Ethernet network.

VIDEO OUTPUT: The Axiom MFDs and Axiom Pro MFDs support transmission of the MFD’s screen image to a TV or monitor supporting Miracast or support use with a Miracast dongle.

FISHFINDER(s): When interfaced to a compatible transducer, and/or to another Axiom MFD or Axiom Pro MFD which has been interfaced to a compatible transducer, and/or to a CP100, CP200, CP370, CP450, CP570, RVX1000 Fishfinder Sounder Module, which in turn has been interfaced to a compatible transducer the Axiom Pro MFD (as well as the other Axiom MFDs and Axiom Pro MFDs which have been interfaced to it) will support the corresponding finder sonar features.

PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION: While the replacement of this equipment is well within the capabilities of those familiar with marine electronics equipment installation, there will be some cable splicing and cable chasing required. Should this not be within your comfort zone or skills, then click here to locate a Certified Raymarine Installer in your area.

WAYPOINTS, ROUTES, AND TRACKS: Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject.

CARTOGRAPHY - Navionics cartography which has been programmed onto CF memory cards may not be used with Axiom Pro MFDs and Axiom MFDs. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject.
