Acronyms and abbreviations used within Raymarine products
Raymarine products and product documents commonly employ abbreviations and acronyms. The following list has been assembled to provide definitions for any such abbreviations and acronyms which may not have been previously defined within Raymarine product documents:

A: Apparent

AIS: Automatic Identifications System. AIS receiver or AIS transceiver required.

App.: Apparent

Avg.: Average

AWA: Apparent Wind Angle. Wind sensing instrument required.

AWS: Apparent Wind Speed. Wind sensing instrument required.

Batt.: Battery

BOTW: Bearing: Origin To Waypoint

BTW: Bearing to Waypoint. GPS position FIX required. Data item is populated after navigation to a waypoint / cursor position has been commmanded.

C: Celcius

CH: Close Hauled

CMG: Course Made Good. GPS position FIX required.

COG: Course Over Ground. Produced by GPS sensor (may be internal to the product). Requires that the GPS source have acquired a GPS position FIX and that the vessel be underway and making way.

CTS: Course To Steer: GPS position FIX required. Data item is populated after navigation to a waypoint / cursor position has been commmanded.

DMG: Distance Made Good. GPS position FIX required.

DTW: Distance To Waypoint. GPS position FIX required. Data item is populated after navigation to a waypoint / cursor position has been commmanded.

Err.: Error

Est.: Estimated.

ETA: Estimated Time of Arrival. Estimated time of arrival at waypoint / cursor position or route's last waypoint. GPS position FIX required. Data item is populated after navigation to a waypoint / cursor position has been commmanded.

F: Forward (Gear) / Farenheit

Fa: Fathoms

Ft / ft: Feet

HDG / Hdg: Heading. Heading sensing device (ex. autopilot, instrument compass, GPS compass) required. Data item is commonly confused with COG.

HDOP: Horizontal Dilution Of Precision. Produced by GPS sensor (may be internal to the product). Requires that the GPS source have acquired a GPS position FIX. When normally receiving a high quality Satellite Differential FIX, this value will less than or equal to 1.0 (lower is better).

Gal.: Gallon

GWD: Ground Wind Direction. Wind sensing instrument and GPS sensor required. GPS position FIX required.

GWS: Ground Wind Speed. Wind sensing instrument and GPS sensor required. GPS position FIX required.

Km: Kilometers

Kpa: Kilopascals

KPH: Kilometers Per Hour

Kts: Knots

Lat: Latitude. Produced by GPS sensor (may be internal to the product). Requires that the GPS source have acquired a GPS position FIX

Lon: Longitude. Produced by GPS sensor (may be internal to the product). Requires that the GPS source have acquired a GPS position FIX

M: Magnetic bearing

m: meters

Mag: Magnetic bearing

Max.: Maximum

Min.: Minimum

MPH: Miles Per Houre

N: Neutral (Gear)

Nm / nm: Nautical Mile

P: Port

Pos.: Position

Pres.: Pressure

PSI: Pounds Per Square Inch

R: Reverse (Gear)

RADAR: RAdio Direction And Ranging: Radar transducer required.

Rot.: Rotation. Mast Rotation Sensing instrument required.

ROT: Rate Of Turn. Most common source is EV-1 CCU

RPM: Revolutions Per Minute. Data item produced by engine system, typically via a NMEA 2000 engine gateway.

S: Starboard

SOG: Speed Over Ground. Produced by GPS sensor (may be internal to the product). Requires that the GPS source have acquired a GPS position FIX.

SONAR: SOund Navigation And Ranging: Compatible Fishfinder depth transducer or depth instrument required.

SM: Statute Miles

STW: Speed Through Water; Speed through water sensing transducer required. Data item, also referred to as "Speed" within some Raymarine products, is commonly confused with SOG.

T: True (bearing or wind)

Temp.: Temperature

Trans.: Transmission (engine)

TTE: Time To Empty. Time remaining until fuel tank has been emptied

DTE: Distance To Empty. Distance (range) remaining until fuel tank has been emptied

TTG: Time To Go. Time remaining until arrival at waypoint or route's last waypoint. GPS position FIX required. Data item is populated after navigation to a waypoint / cursor position has been commanded.

TWA: True Wind Angle. Angle of the boat to the wind. Wind sensing instrument, heading sensor, and STW sensor required

TWD: True Wind Direction. Wind sensing instrument, heading sensor, and STW sensor required.

TWS: True Wind Speed. Wind sensing instrument, heading sensor, and STW sensor required.

UTC: Coordinated Universal Time (commonly referred to as GMT). Produced by GPS sensor (may be internal to the product). GPS position FIX required.

VMG: Velocity Made Good to wind or to waypoint. In the case of wind, the system must be interfaced to a source of wind data and speed through water. In the case of VMG to a waypoint, a GPX fix required and the data item is populated after navigation to a waypoint / cursor position has been commanded.

WPT: Waypoint

XTE: Cross Track Error; Linear deviation perpendicular to the left or to the right side of the course line. Data item is populated when navigation to a waypoint / cursor position has been commanded.
