[CA11] RD424HD / E120 Failed soon after install
Puzzling performance from a new RD424 installation
Installed a new RD424 HD with cable on a dual E120 MFD Network. Installed update 5.69. (From Radar Marine) Performed reboot and master reset on both MFDs RD424 powered up and ran immediately on both MFDs. Targets/ power up and down/ range / gain / see targets / all appeared to be well. Got a call about an hour later from the to say RD424HD would not run. NO data source was reported DC power to dome connector OK @ 12.8 vdc DC power to breaker @ 13 VDC Noted Activity on Switch port Swapped a switch port All other network devices work It was necessary to cycle Radar breaker to start "powerup" process Softer key for Scanner was seen after a delay the "power button / TX" dialog was seen but pushing that soft key would not cause radar to Transmit and the softkey would disappear after some 15 seconds or so. |

RE: [CA11] RD424HD / E120 Failed soon after install
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Joe,
I would recommend that a second Factory Reset be performed to the MFDs. Should the second reset fail to correct the problem, then a possible cable failure may be fault isolated by - opening the radome - unplugging the Ethernet cable from the radome core - connecting the radome core to the network switch using a commonly available CAT5/6 patch cable. Should the problem persist, then it would unfortunately appear that the radome core has suffered an out of box failure, necessitating that it be replaced or sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced. |
