Networking a65 to DSC VHF
I just purchased an a65 MFD and am trying to figure out if I can get DSC position info from the (GPS equipped) DSC VHF to the a65. I see plenty of info on getting GPS signals from the a65 MFD to the DSC VHF but nothing on getting DSC info to the a65 MFD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Rick

RE: Networking a65 to DSC VHF
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Rick,

The 6" and 7" a-Series MFDs do not feature a NMEA 0183 communications interface. Should the DSC VHF radio feature a SeaTalkng or NMEA 2000 communications interface and should both the MFD and DSC VHF radio each be interfaced to a powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng backbone, then the MFD should display a message upon receiving PGN 129808 DSC Call Information. However, should the DSC VHF radio not feature a SeaTalkng or NMEA 2000 communications interface, then it would be necessary to have install a SeaTalkng/NMEA 2000 to NMEA 0183 data bridge supporting bridging of DSC and DSE NMEA 0183 sentences to PGN 129808. I am not presently aware of any SeaTalkng/NMEA 2000 to NMEA 0183 data bridge support these NMEA 0183 sentences. Accordingly, is it recommended that the Internet be searched for such bridging devices and that their documentation be inspected and/or manufacturers contacted to verify bridging of DSC and DSE NMEA 0183 sentences to PGN 129808.
