E-80
Suddenly my E-80 is not reading the data card. I have initial screen at point of power on, then I gave the foundation of the second screen but no data, just a black screen with an arrow and the boxes at screen bottom but no info, just the boxes. Otherwise screen is blank. Tried looking for loose connection nnections and changing data cards. No change. Ideas?

RE: E-80
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Joe,
Should all or part of the MFD's screen be black, then it is possible that the MFD's internal circuitry has experienced a failure. To rule out the possibility of power or software, it is recommended that the vessel be connected to shore power, that its batteries be permitted to fully charge, and that while still connected to shore power that the MFD be tested again. Should the problem persist, then you may want to consider performing a Factory Reset operation to the MFD to restore operation. Should the Factory Reset restore operation, but there be an issue displaying chart data, then please click here to view a FAQ addressing issues with displaying chart data. It is recommended that you first determine whether the MFD's CF memory card reader/writer is operational via the options specified within the FAQ. Should the MFD's CF memory card reader/writer be operational, then the other recommendations regarding the MFD's software level, Chartcat.XML file, quantity of cartography data stored chart card and other recommendations of the FAQ should be followed. However, should the MFD's CF memory card reader/writer be determined to not be operational, then it would be necessary to replace the MFD, as Raymarine’s Product Repair Center has now permanently exhausted the supply of replacement CF memory card reader/writer for the E-Series Classic MFDs. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing replacement of an E-Series Classic MFD with an a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD. If seeking a plug and play replacement for your display, it would be recommended that the second hand market (ex. ebay, Craigs List, etc.) be searched for an E80. That said, before investing in a second hand E-Series Classic MFD, it should be understood that with the exception of servicing the MFD's backlighting circuitry, Raymarine can no longer supply parts and service for the E-Series Classic MFDs. |
