[LW11] Autohelm ST7000 survivor
I have an early 1990's autopilot, with the all too common NO LINK error code.

It consists of the following;

ST7000 display

Z083 computer

Z131 rudder reference

Z130 fluxgate

Z028 rotary drive

Have done all the diagnostics and functional test on each individual component and it's the Z083 computer that is not working.

What are my options to upgrade the Z083 to a more modern autopilot computer and use the other peripherals I already have on the vessel.

Not that interested in having an interphased system with my plotter or any bells or whistles, just looking for a simple rugged autopilot

Dear Pampero,

Thank you for your post.

Due to the age of the pilot most of the parts will need replacing. The fluxgate compass and course computer would need to be replaced with our ACU400 and EV1, further information is available here.

Your ST7000 control head could be used with many limitations so it would be advised to purchase a P70 (s or R depending on power or sail) to enable full calibration and control of the pilot, have a look here.

It would also be advised replace the rudder reference trasducer and the rotary drive, simply due to their age.

Rudder reference transducer part number M81105
Type 2 12v rotary drive part number is M81136

Many Thanks
Louise

MY ST 7000 was working a few days ago upon launch of my sailboat. When I checked last night there was no power to the unit. All my other Raymarine systems powered up correctly. Does anyone have any suggestions to check ? fuses ? etc ? Nothing was changed . Just a different day and not working, Thanks !

Dear Kathym,

Thank you for your query.

Is there any life on the display? Or is it completely dead?

I would initially look at the power source including the fuse to ensure this has not blown. Also ensure there is a 12v feed coming in to the back of the unit from the seatalk network - you can try another seatalk cable to eliminate a faulty seatalk supply.

Many Thanks
Louise
