Reducing power consumption Quantum radar
Everytime I switch my equipment on (ES97 / Quantum radar), the radar comes up in standby mode, consuming 7W of power.
While sailing, I want to save power as much as possible, so I switch it to sleep mode manually, reducing the power consumption to 2W. Can this default behaviour be changed, so that the radar comes up in sleep mode, when power is switched on. I have a es97 MFD display, and Quantum 1 radar, connected via a cable. |

RE: Reducing power consumption Quantum radar
Hello Ruud,
No, the Quantum will always power up into Standby, we think that's probably what's appropriate in most systems. If you'd like power we'd suggest just leaving the Quantum's circuit breaker off (assuming it has a breaker rather than a fuse) or installing an inline power switch. It should certainly always either have a switch or fuse and a resettable breaker would be the more common solution. Regards, Tom Raymarine since 1999.
