[CA11] Element S Navigation Displays
Please help me understand what is "under the hood" of the new Element S navigation system. First, your ad says it uses the Lighthouse Sport Operating System. How does this differ from the Lighthouse III Annapolis 3.9 OS? Your ad says it is for cruising and sailing. Does it have the same sailing functions (laylines, new sailing displays to accompany the chart in dual display) as the Lighthouse III 3.9? Was the Element S developed for "price point" and functionality (all weather use per ad with keypad and no touch screen) vs the Axiom and Axiom Pro? Does the Element S have subgroups for waypoints? How does the naming of WPs work - is it moving the rocker pad from a to z and 0-9 plus symbols one "click" at a time?
Thank you for helping me understand the target market/application for this new product. |

RE: [CA11] Element S Navigation Displays
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Bill,
Full details of the features found within the latest version of LightHouse Sport software may always be found within the latest version of the LightHouse Sport Advanced Operating Instructions. As you have suggested, Element displays are Raymarine's chartplotting and chartplotting/fishfinding displays for budget conscious boaters who are not seeking the touch screen, networking options, advanced features supported by MFDs running LightHouse 3 and LightHouse II software. Element S Displays add further savings to those who are not seeking fishfinder capabilities within the display. LightHouse Sport does not presently support polars, laylines, and other advanced sailing features recently introduced within LightHouse 3 v3.9 software. Those seeking such features in a display would recommended to consider an Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFD rather than an Element display. With regard waypoints, waypoint groups/folders are supported and naming is accomplished via a screen based keyboard whose characters are selected via the up/down/right/left trackpad features and the OK button. |
