[CA11] AIS 650
I install a new AIS 650 , connected with ST (ng) cable to a C 125, AIS 650 is ok, green light, but in the chartplotter in the screen show a "NO AIS" sign, seems that the plotter don´t comunicate with the AIS, where is the problem ??
Thanks for the help with this issues. Regards |

RE: [CA11] AIS 650
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum bigua,
SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 devices are not designed to be interfaced to one another via a single cable. Instead, such devices are designed to be interfaced as individual spurs to a powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing how one may construct a simple backbone from SeaTalkng networking components to which the MFD and AIS650 may each be interfaced via an appropriate length of SeaTalkng Spur Cable. |

RE: [CA11] AIS 650
bigua,
Q. what if I conect both using the cables in the C 125 and the AIS ( NMEA 0183) ? A. It is indeed possible to interface the MFD's NMEA 0183 Port 1 leads to the corresponding 38400 BAUD NMEA 0183 leads of the AIS650 to support communications between these products. After doing so, the MFD's NMEA 0183 Port 1 will need to be configured for 38400 BAUD NMEA 0183 communications (AIS 38400) and the AIS objects layer will need to be configured ON within the Chart application page/pane being viewed. |

RE: [CA11] AIS 650
bigua,
Q. I understand that is better than NMEA use the seatalk way....It´s correct ?? A. From the standpoint of having an of the system's MFDs display AIS data and to control the Silent Mode state of an AIS700/650/500, either method is equally acceptable. Alternatively, interfacing an AIS700/650/500 via SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 communications may permit AIS data to be available to other devices within the system (ex. i70/i70S MFIDs, NMEA 2000 to WiFi interfaces, etc.) and determine certain diagnostics of the an AIS700/650/500 (ex. software level, etc.). |

Hi Chuck, have a problem trying to connect My AIS 650 with a C125 trough NMEA, there is info in the respectives manuals that dont match the reality of each equipments,
In the picture attached you could see th instructions to connect the chart with the ais trough NMEA 38400, for example, the cabel 1 of the chart ( IN +) tell that go with the cable 7 bof the AIS ( out -) and so on....another example, there is no 9 and 10 cables in the AIS unit..... a bit confusing for me, could you help me with this issue ?? Thanks ! |
