Troubleshooting NO FIX - Raystar 130/150 GPS Sensor
NOTE: the command sequences specified within this FAQ are those for an a/c/e/e/eS/gS-Series MFD. It is recommended that your ensure that: - within systems featuring more than one source of GPS data, that the Data Sources feature (HOME->SET-UP->SYSTEM SETTINGS->DATA SOURCES) has been executed on the Data Master MFD to select the Raystar 130/150 GPS Sensor as the system's source of GPS data - the problem can be produced prior to commencing troubleshooting - the Raystar 130/150 GPS Sensor has been installed in a location affording it an unobstructed view of the skies overhead ... should the vessel be inside of a building or under a roof structure, then the GPS sensor would be considered to NOT be afforded an unobstructed view of the skies overhead - the Raystar 130/150 GPS Sensor is not installed within 3' of a VHF antenna or radar scanner (if mounted within its beam angle) - the vessel's batteries have been fully charged and that testing is conducted following any necessary charging of the batteries, but before disconnecting the batteries from the charging system - The Raystar 130/150 GPS Sensor and Data Master MFD have each been interfaced as a spur to a powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng backbone. - the SeaTalkng backbone has been powered ON ... Raymarine MFDs are neither designed to supply power to nor be powered by a SeaTalkng/NMEA 2000 backbone. If uncertain which circuit is supplying power to the SeaTalkng backbone, then all of the marine electronics circuits should be powered ON. - verify that the Data Master MFD is communicating with the SeaTalkng backbone and the RS130 ... use the command sequence HOME->SET-UP->MAINTENANCE->DIAGNOSTICS->SELECT DEVICE to display the list of all devices which the MFD has detected as being interfaced to the MFD via Ethernet (SeaTalkhs) and SeaTalkng (STng). - Should the RS130 be listed within the Devices List, then the MFD's Data Sources feature (HOME->SET-UP->SYSTEM SETTINGS->DATA SOURCES) should be utilized to manually select the RS130/150 to be the system's GPS sensor. - the status LED atop the RS130/150 GPS Sensor be checked for illumination and color: Not illuminated: the device is not powered or suffered a total failure --- Flashing RED: the unit is booting up, its software is being upgraded, or is unable to boot ... should this state remain, then the GPS sensor should be serviced or replaced --- Flashing ORANGE: the unit is running, but does not have a FIX ... should this state remain and the above criteria have been satisfied, then the GPS sensor should be serviced or replaced --- Flashing GREEN: the unit is running and has a FIX ... possible conflict with third party device ... recommend that fault isolation begin by disconnecting the system from third party devices. Should the above criteria have been satisfied, then the Raystar 130/150 GPS Sensor should be bench tested / serviced by Raymarine’s Product Repair Center. RAYFAQ# |
