[CA11] Compatible control heads for type 300 course computer
I currently have a type 300 course computer with st7000 control head. Also the course computer is connected to an STng backbone via a seatalk to STng converter using only the yellow wire, to access track/waypoint info from es98 MFD’s. I want to add another control head for the lower helm. Is a p70rs or p70s control head compatible with the type 300? If so, how do you recommend connecting a p70s or p70rs to the type 300 course computer? Or should it be connected to the existing st7000 control head in daisey chain fashion with an STng to seatalk adapter?

RE: [CA11] Compatible control heads for type 300 course computer
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Rpalladino,
Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. As indicated therein the p70/p70S/p70R/p70RS autopilot course computers are not compatible with Type 100/300 autopilot course computers. Further, the SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter is not compatible with Type 100/300 autopilot course computers. It is recommended that these older autopilots be interfaced via NMEA 0183 communications to the last two generations of MFDs ... including eS98 MFDs. If seeking a replacement or additional autopilot control head for a Type 100/300 autopilot course computer, then it would be recommended that a second hand ST600x/ST700x/ST800x autopilot control head be sought. If considering replacement of a Type 100/300 autopilot course computer, it should be known that the currently installed drive unit and rudder reference may be retained for use with an Evolution Autopilot system. If supplied with the model of drive unit and whether the vessel features a 12VDC or 24VDC power distribution system, then it may be possible to identify which Evolution core pack (EV-1, ACU, p70S/p70RS, and Evolution Cabling Kit) would be recommended. |
