[CA11] SPX5 SeaTalk to NMEA 0183
I want to get GPS info into a Simrad RS35 VHF for DSC/AIS.
I have a Garmin GPSMAP 640 at the helm, outputting into a ST6001 Pilot controller via NMEA 0183. The ST6001 is connected via SeaTalk to the SPX5 Course computer via SeaTalk. I am using the NMEA out on the SPX5 into the RS35 NMEA input - but no joy. The C80 MFD is seeing Nav info from the GPSMAP 640 via the Seatalk net. Does the SPX5 bridge GPS info from Seatalk to its NMEA out? Diagram attached. Thanks! Fyaskin C320 #380 |

RE: [CA11] SPX5 SeaTalk to NMEA 0183
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Fyaskin
Q. Does the SPX5 bridge GPS info from Seatalk to its NMEA out? A. Negative. Most Raymarine products featuring a NMEA 0183 output will support supplying NMEA 0183 data to up to three NMEA 0183 listeners. Should more than three NMEA 0183 listeners need to be receive data from the Raymarine product, then a NMEA 0183 expander would be utilized. Should the NMEA 0183 capabilities of Garmin products has the same capability, then you may want to consider simply paralleling the NMEA 0183 output from the GPSMAP 640 which is presently interfaced to the NMEA 0183 input port of the ST6001. The paralleled NMEA 0183 OUT+ and OUT- leads would then be interfaced to the 4800 BAUD NMEA 0183 input leads of the DSC VHF radio. |
