[CA11] TRANSDUCER FOR MFD E7D
I have an E7D MFD Raymarine, Serial No. E62355 1059216, VERSION v.19.03-00036. I installed an Airmar b164 1kw transducer Part Number: A80173. Does not work.
MFD Raymarine cannot identify the connected transducer. What can I do to solve? I have another transducer, P79, connected to a DSM 300 and this one connected to the MFD, working normally. Can I connect this B164 (A80173) to DSM 300 through any adapter cable? What would that cable be? Can you help me? |

RE: [CA11] TRANSDUCER FOR MFD E7D
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum jose guilherme borja martins,
Q1. I installed an Airmar b164 1kw transducer Part Number: A80173. Does not work. MFD Raymarine cannot identify the connected transducer. What can I do to solve? A1. During manufacturing, a tag identifying the transducer make, model, and product ID is affixed to the plug end of Raymarine or Airmar fishfinder transducer's cable. The product name (ex. B164, B319 B260, B744V, P66, P79, etc.) identifies a family of transducers rather than a single transducer, each of which is designed for a specific manufacturer and fishfinder or instrument product offered by that manufacturer. If supplied with a photo of the transducer's identification tag it may aid in determining whether your version of the B164 is compatible with an e7D MFD. Q2. I have another transducer, P79, connected to a DSM 300 and this one connected to the MFD, working normally. Can I connect this B164 (A80173) to DSM 300 through any adapter cable? What would that cable be? A2. See the response to Q1. If this is truly the A80173 version of the B164, then it should be able to be plugged directly into the MFD's Transducer socket. However, as the ax7/cx7/e7D/ex7/eSx7 MFDs only output 600W transmissions, the MFD's internal fishfinder circuitry will only support driving the B164 at 600W rather than 1kW. |

RE: [CA11] TRANSDUCER FOR MFD E7D
1) The installed Airmar B164 transducer version is compatible with the MFD E7D. Airmar has already informed me that it should be working. It even came with the correct socket to connect to the E7D. The problem is that MFD cannot identify the connected transducer. Can you tell me why the E7D can't identify?

Jose,
In fact, I did understand your initial problem statement as well as your most recent post. I had requested that you provide a photo of the transducer's identification tag aid in determining whether your version of the B164 is compatible with an e7D MFD. I understand that it is Airmar's contention that the transducer is compatible, however, I need to verify that this is so. |

RE: [CA11] TRANSDUCER FOR MFD E7D
Jose,
I was not seeking the identification tag from a box. I had requested a photo of the identification tag which is affixed to the plug end of the transducer's cable to ensure that the A80173 was the transducer which had been installed. Should the specified tag list the Raymarine part number A80173, then it should be possible to select the 200kHz or 1kHz Channel (MENU->CHANNEL) from within the Fishfinder application. Should the specified tag list the Raymarine part number A80173, then this transducer should also be automatically recognized as a 1kW fishfinder transducer by a Raymarine's ax7/cx7/e7D/ex7/eSx7 MFD (where x identifies the MFD's screen size) and the Fishfinder application's transducer list (MENU->SET-UP->TRANSDUCER SET-UP->TRANSDUCER) should list 1kW transducers, including the B164. If the B164 is not listed within the Transducer list of the Fishfinder application, then it would be recommended that the resistance across the A80173 transducer's sense pins be measured. For 1kW transducers (i.e. the A80173 B164 (20 degree) - Sonar Transducer, the measured resistance should be approximately 3 kohms between pins 5 and 6 (see below). No resistance (i.e. short) should be measured if the transducer is a compatible 600W transducer. If so, then it would appear that the MFD's internal fishfinder sonar circuitry may have suffered a failure and it would then be recommended that the MFD be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced. |
